The
ALABAMA TRIO
BIOGRAPHY:
In 1987 Ian Murray left the top Falkirk indie act Two
Helens just after the release of their debut single to set up The Alabama
Trio, a rockabilly act! This change in direction was more in keeping with his
own musical tastes, however it was a shock to the local music scene at the time.
He recruited double bass player Paul "Tali" Patale (well known in
the rockabilly scene, ex-Shakin'
Muleskinners) & Eddie Menczyskwoski (drums, ex-Spank!).
The band played gigs in the local area, as well as supporting Two Helens and
This Scarlet Train on a number of occasions.
There were several changes of drummer until the band settled
with Big Willie C. However, Willie was later injured in a motorbike accident,
and Tali & Ian continued to write their own material and play as a duo until
Alan Huntley from Bridge of Allen joined as drummer. In 1997 they changed their
name to The Screaming Demons,
developing a heavier Rockabilly sound.
