The BANNED
BIOGRAPHY:
Band
formed in early 2002 by Chick Malarky (vocals), Sharon McGregor (then Malarky)
(guitar), Frazer Malarky (guitar, ex-Water),
John Paul Fitzpatrick (Japes) (bass) & Peter Griffis (Pedro) (drums). They
were
a low key rock band, mixing folky singer / songwriter material with a distinctive
rock sound. The band played their first gig supporting Skinflats at the Bowhouse
Hotel six weeks after forming. A month later (March 2002) they played a gig in
Firkins, then subsequently a charity gig in the Ellwyn. Fitzpatrick then left
and was replaced for a short while by Peter's son, Luke, before Chick took up
bass.
An EP (of 9 tracks) was recorded but never released, some tracks included
Ian Moore (from Quixote) and Ben Davidson
(from Skinflats). McGregor left the
band in November 2002, eventually forming The
Restless Natives. The band is still going in some form, and are recording
under the name Audio Engines.
