BAREFOOT
BIOGRAPHY:
Barefoot came about in late 2000 after a drunken conversation between Beauty
School Dropout drummer Andy and ex-Happy But Twisted (probably the prime Alloa
band of the 1990's) frontman Chris at the wedding of Happy But Twisted guitarist
Pete. Ex-member of The Panics, Si was
recruited, and early in 2001 four tracks were recorded at Pulse Studios in Stirling.
When Si then left to form his own act, The Ritalins, the band worked through
two guitarists in the next year, ex-Skintwire
Alan, and former Engage member, Paul. This line-up recorded a single, "Something's
Admitted", after which ex-Turtlehead
guitarist Gary Cunningham joined. The single led to the inclusion on "The
Instant Singles Collection Vol. 1" on the Boss Tuneage label. The band
played at the all-day "Punkstravaganza" festival at the Martell in
2001, and also supported The Selecter at The Engine Room later that year. Whilst
Cunningham left to form his own band, guitarist Steven was recruited, giving
the act a fuller sound. The Day I Snapped guitarist Richie helped out with the
recording of the debut album (for Boss Tuneage) in 2003, before permanant member
David McIntosh (of Shatterhand)
joined.
The album, "Only Souvenirs", was released later that year, after which
the band came to an end.
