BIG
BLUE FUNKY WHALE
BIOGRAPHY:
Local indie-pop act formed in 1990 by Nigel Frayling-Kelly (keyboards / vocals,
ex-Constable Savage), Robbie
Lesuik (bass, ex-Tuliptown), Dave
McIntosh (guitar, also with Filigree
Son), Paul Tonner (samples) & Steve Wallace (drums, ex-Tuliptown).
During their time they also played with various other acts: Frayling-Kelly &
Lesuik with Colors Coral, Wallace
with Slowdown, and all members except
McIntosh formed Spag Bog. In 1993 the
band had a track on the "Buzztracks" compilation cassette, and continued
to play live into 1994 including an appearance at "The Event In The Tent"
in Grangemouth. After the band split Lesuik, Tonner & Wallace formed Twister,
whilst Frayling-Kelly joined Strawberry.
McIntosh, meanwhile, continued with his own act, Filigree
Son.
