BREAK NEKK SPEED
BIOGRAPHY:
Break
Nekk Speed were a four piece rock band from Falkirk with
a heavy, grungy, funk sound. They were formed in mid-2002 by brothers David
Drummond (vocals) and Andrew Drummond (bass), along with James McLeod (guitar)
and Ryan Yule (drums), all of whom had been members of Area
51. After a few months the band started writing their own material and eventually
played their first gig at IROZMUSIC "Battle of the Bands" in Bannermanns,
Edinburgh. After four rounds of heats, Break Nekk Speed found themselves coming
runners-up in the final in late February 2003, held at The Bongo Club, Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, a few gigs were played around the Central belt.
Practising twice
a week and writing new material, the band decided to record their first demo at
Groove Tunnel Studios, Loanhead. This earned the band valuable recording and studio
experience.
2004 saw Break Nekk Speed start regular gigging, with plans to play south of
the border in 2005, however in summer 2006 they split. The Drummond borthers
then formed Triggers Brush,
whilst Yule joined Akolayd.
