CAHN
& CAHN
BIOGRAPHY:
Cahn & Cahn were a Grangemouth band formed by ex-Blue
Ruin members Paul Johnson (drums), Scott MacKenzie (vocals / guitar) &
Les Makin (keyboards) in summer 1988. They brought with them a management contract
for MacKenzie with John McLennan (later manager of Utah Saints), and spent a
couple of years seemingly on the verge of signing a recording contract. First
recruits to the band were Alan Burns (bass, ex-Lesson
One) & Cameron Nisbet (guitar, ex-Hearts
& Minds). Soon after forming, Johnson was replaced by Kenny McInnes
on drums, and subsequently turned up in Stacatto
Hat. MacKenzie's girlfriend (and later wife) Sharyn Cook joined on second
vocals in October, at around the same time as Nisbet left (later forming Throb),
completing the line-up who supported The Big Dish at the end of the year. January
1989 saw Burns & McInnes leave the band, which did not hold them back from
recording a summer session for Radio Clyde with members of The Big Dish helping
out. Burns joined The Cotton Train
later that year, whilst McInnes ended up in Wedgewood
Line. Makin later joined Johnson in Stacatto
Hat, whilst Cook & MacKenzie formed The
Concorde Jams.
