FAQ
WHAT IS THIS SITE ABOUT?
I realised
that whilst I could not tell you where my car keys are, of what colour of bucket
goes out on which day, I could remember who the bass player in The Walking Monuments
To DNA was, or who wrote the Falkirk Herald music column in 1982. All this information
was completely useless...or so I thought! That's why I decided to start this website.
I also thought it would be a good place to check out the latest news on what is
happening in music locally. Actually, now I think about it, all this information
is still useless, but now it's not only in my head.
HOW
DID YOU GET ALL THIS INFORMATION?
A lot of the information is
from my own memory, however, I also looked at old Falkirk Herald music columns
(so far from 1976 - 2005), checked out websites of local bands, and read through
Martin Strong's books. Also, a lot of people have e-mailed me to provide information.
Check out the thanks further down the page.
WHO
ARE YOU, AND WHAT IS YOUR INTEREST IN ALL THIS?
Okay, time to
come clean. I am Eddie McKenzie and I was most active in the local music scene
between 1986 and 1998. I am still active today, but not as much. If you want to
find out more about what I've done look in the "people" section, and
that will lead you to the bands I played in. It's been hard not blowing my own
trumpet, but fuck it, no-one else is going to do it...
MY
BAND IS NOT ON THIS WEBSITE! WHY NOT?
I don't know about your
band. It's as simple as that. Send me an e-mail ("contact" over there
on the left) and let me know!
MY BAND IS ON THIS
WEBSITE, BUT YOU'VE GOT IT ALL WRONG!
Sorry. I don't know everything.
Once again, send me an e-mail telling the truth.
MY
BAND HAS SOME NEWS...DO YOU WANT TO KNOW IT?
Yes, once again send
me an e-mail. I do intend to trawl through band websites once a month, however,
I would also like to hear from you.
DO YOU HAVE
PICTURES OR SOUNDFILES ON THIS SITE?
I would love to, but need
you to provide copies of the music (and permission!). E-mail me with suggestions.
YOU ARE ACTUALLY QUITE SAD, AREN'T YOU?
Yes.
WILL
YOU REVIEW MY BAND?
Quite simply, NO! I ran a fanzine in Falkirk
back in the 1980's, and the stating of negative opinions about bands led to me
getting run out of town. There are still people who won't talk to me almost twenty
years later. So, the idea this time is to stay impartial. However, if you do want
a quote about your band for your CV / press release, feel free to use one of these:
"(Insert
band name here) are quite simply one of the best live acts in the country today!
See them now before you can't afford to!"
"(Insert album / single
name here) is one of those releases that comes along once in your lifetime, and
makes you feel that, yes, life is worth living!"
"(Insert band /
release name here) is / are quite simply, God's gift to Shite!"
