HEARTS
& MINDS
BIOGRAPHY:
Hearts
& Minds were the idea of former Chewy
Racoon singer and multi-instrumentalist, Davy Scott. With money from a publishing
deal he recruited Jeanette Burns (vocals), Australian Jim Gash (drums) and ex-Bluebells
keyboard player Robert McGinley, as well as retaining the Chewy
Racoon bass player, Chris Keenan in early 1986. The band signed to CBS in
September 1986, and set about recording their debut single, "Turning Turtle"
with ex-10CC man Eric Stewart producing. In March 1987 Burns left the band to
concentrate on a solo career, however she did return in September, along with
ex-Dragonfly guitarist Cameron Nisbet.
The band struggled on until June 1988, albiet with only Gash & Scott, when
the discovery of an American band with the same name led to a name change to The
Pearlfishers.
