MUDSHARK
BIOGRAPHY:
Drumchappel based funk metal act featuring Falkirk drummer David Dowell (ex-Numb),
along with Derek McCotter (bass), Sammy McCotter (guitar) & Ian McCotter (guitar
/ vocals). Signed to the same management as Texas, they released a single and
album in 1995 and toured the UK. 1996 saw them support US bands Dog Eat Dog &
Sugar Ray on UK tours, as well as doing two European tours warming up for Prong
and The Melvins. Jason Newstead of Metallica quoted the Mudshark album as one
of his favourites for 1996 in a Kerrang interview. Despite all this the band failed
to secure a deal for a second album, and the brothers kept writing material in
a more rap / metal style. Dowell then joined Cooper,
whilst Sammy McCotter now leads Glasgow band The
States.
