The URBAN TONKERERS
BIOGRAPHY:
Seven piece country / folk act formed in 2006 by Stuart Miller (ex-Linties), Callum Campbell (vocals / guitar, ex-Final Throw), George Williams (guitar), Walter Simms (guitar), Alex Burt (bass), Ian Duncan & Stephen Holland. Holland & Duncan were later replaced by Steven Litts (guitar / vocals, ex-Shut Up Hooker), Lyle Kennedy (vocals) & Roderick Campbell (drums, ex-Final Throw). The band took their name from an incident in Falkirk High Street in 1624, when the town drummer, George Brocklay was accused of "drinking and tonkering ye drum at unreasonable hours on ye sabbath morne". The band played a weekly residency at 20 Rocks in Falkirk throughout 2011, changing their name to The Tonkerers half way through the year.
